Pro Mini includes hardware that allows device geolocation through either Apple Find My or Google Find Hub networks. This article describes how to connect, enable and disable tracking, and disconnect using iodyne Utility and your phone.
Initial Setup
When you first initialize Pro Mini using iodyne Utility, you can enable Find My tracking using the following steps:
Apple Find My
- Click the Enable Find My button on the Pro Mini Setup screen shown above to make Pro Mini discoverable
- Do not tap your phone to the Digital Label as you would for an NFC scan. Instead, place your phone next to Pro Mini on a flat surface.Launch the Find My app on your phone
- Navigate to the Items tab, tap + and select Add Other Item
Google Find Hub
- Click the Enable Find My button on the Pro Mini Setup screen shown above to make Pro Mini discoverable
- Do not tap your phone to the Digital Label as you would for an NFC scan. Instead, place your phone next to Pro Mini on a flat surface
- Wait for the pop-up to appear and follow the instructions on your phone screen
- After setup, you can locate Pro Mini in the Find Hub app
If you choose to skip this step during initialization, you can alternatively make Pro Mini discoverable by toggling Tracking on in the iodyne.app Status tab or selecting Enable Find My from the Devices menu.
Locating your Device
If your Pro Mini is lost, stolen, or in transit to another location, you can use your Apple Find My or Google Find Hub app on your phone (or computer or web site) to locate your device, just like any other item. If you've lost Pro Mini but think it is nearby, you can use the "ring device" feature of your Find app to ring Pro Mini-- you will see the green locate LED blink on the device, and hear a ringing noise. Your Find app can also lead you to a lost device by following the Bluetooth signal.
Disabling Tracking
To temporarily disable tracking, open and navigate to the iodyne.app Status tab to toggle Tracking off. When tracking is turned off, the rechargeable battery inside your Pro Mini is electrically disconnected and the Bluetooth antenna is no longer transmitting, similar to setting a phone to "airplane mode".
Disconnect Tracking
To remove Pro Mini from your Apple or Google Find network, select from the following options:
- Select Disconnect Tracking… from the iodyne.app Devices menu, and confirm
- Apple: Tap on Pro Mini in the Find My app Items list, scroll to the bottom of its detail screen, tap Remove Item, and confirm by tapping Remove
- Google: Tap on Pro Mini in the Find Hub app, then tap the Settings gear icon, select Remove from Find Hub, and confirm by tapping Remove device. Note: if you don't have Pro Mini nearby, or if it can't connect through Bluetooth, you'll get a notification "Couldn't remove device"
